Die Hochschule Kaiserslautern (kurz HSKL oder HS KL, ehemals Fachhochschule Kaiserslautern) mit den drei Studienorten Kaiserslautern, Pirmasens und Zweibrücken ist eine deutsche Fachhochschule.

The earliest ancestor of the present university was the practical Mechanics Chair, which was established in 1844 at the District Trade School. After further appointments at the National School of Advanced Technology (1922) and the Kaiserslautern National Engineering Institute (opened 1942, closed 1943), she was appointed National Engineer in 1959.

The School of Mechanical Engineering was re-established. In 1969, it merged with the Palatinate School of Civil Engineering to form the National School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. It was incorporated into the newly established Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences in 1971. The following year, the Department of Textile Technology was expanded by taking over the former National Institute of Textile Technology and Engineering in Lambrecht, and the Industrial Arts School of the Palatinate Regional Association was merged into the Department of Interior Design and Graphics/Design.

In 1989, the Departments of Textile Technology, Shoe Leather Technology and Chemical Technology were moved from Kaiserslautern to Pilmassens. The Zweibrucken Research Centre and the Department of Business Administration, Computer Science and Microsystems Technology were established in 1994 as a renovation project for the use of former military facilities for civilian purposes.

In the process of the independence of the units of the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences, the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences was established in 1996, with three study sites in Kaiserslautern, Pilmarsens and Zweibrucken.

In September 2014, the University of Applied Sciences changed its name to Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences still has the status of university of Applied Sciences.

Since January 2015, the university has been using a new logo with an outline of the Federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which echoes the university’s geographical location and aims to emphasize a positioning approach: old, rooted in the region and well connected. The colors of the logo were developed from the colors of the region and transferred to various departments of the university. The purpose of the logo is to symbolise the links between the three places of learning and to emphasise the links between the university and the region. In addition, they want to show that the university is regional and international.
