The Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (previously known as the Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main) is a public University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The earliest forerunner of the Konigliche Baugewe Rkschule founded in 1908 and the Royal School of Mechanical Engineering in 1910. Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main integrated its various predecessors on 1 August 1971. Institutions include the Higher School of Social Work, the National Higher School of Economics (HWS) and the Engineering School. The Frankfurt Higher School changed its name to the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences on 1 July 2014.
As of July 2001, the University consists of 13 departments. The four departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Surveying were part of the original Royal School of Architecture, which was founded in 1908 to specialize in civil engineering. The Department of Data Processing and Socio-Cultural Studies were first created in 1971 as part of FH, originally as a service department for engineering students.
