After laying the legal basis for the introduction of FH courses in Austria, the Technikum Karnten Association was founded in Spittal an der Drau in 1993 to establish the University of Applied Sciences. A third branch opened in Klagenfurt in 1997. In 2000, it was finally appointed the University of Applied Sciences (FH).
